Here is a chariot regiment from my Tomb Kings army. So many skeleton horses! I went with variety in the charioteers, with spears, bow, or khopesh. I included command models to spruce up the front rank.

The Tomb Guard are heavily converted with parts from Warhammer, Blood Bowl’s Khemri team, and Wargods of Aegyptus. I wanted them to have a bit of their old personalities, with proper fierceness and skill (especially with the Tomb King accompanying them).

Here is my version of the Mangler Squig from the Orcs and Goblins army for Warhammer. I went with a mob of (relatively) normal squigs herded by a pair of hardcore nutter goblins, rather than the huge and expensive official set.

I wanted plenty of motion and energy, with bright colors and the trailing chains. The big morning star swinging around came out looking good, I think. Any second it could swing around and take out one of the goblins, but hey you’re going to lose a few…

Here are a couple of the bosses from my Orc and Goblin army for Warhammer.

The Black Orc Warboss is of course armed to the teeth, including a looted Chaos sword, and a suitably ramshackle shield. He wears a personal back banner adorned with a few honored foes’ skulls, and a few more decorate the base.

The Orc Boss acts as Standard Bearer for the army (a very important job for a Greenskins army). His banner carries the scars of many battles, and bears trophies from many enemies. Both models have the checkers, dogs teeth, and lightning bolts that decorate the rest of the Stormbringaz Tribe.

Here is a selection of Napoleonic soldiers for a client. The rules set used is Lasalle. The miniatures are 15mm, from Old Glory. The size of most Napoleonic armies (in this case for the Peninsula Campaign) means the army is just massive, with 10+ Battle Groups, including infantry, cavalry, and cannon.

I’m not very familiar with the Napoleonic era (at least as a gamer) so painting and organizing the units was a bit of work. Napoleonic soldiers were clothes horses compared to almost every historical models I’ve painted before. I tried to achieve authenticity for the units, even if they aren’t accurate as far as plumes/epaulets/sashes, etc.

I am returning to my Tomb Kings army, the Scions of Ptah.

I posted the archers and Lich Priestess before, but I have gone back to repaint the bases; in the case of the Priestess, she got a resin base to make her stand out more, a thing I’m doing for all the characters. Repainting the bases for the whole army will take some time, but it looks much better than simple sand (shown in the earlier post).

The Ushabti are my favorite unit in the whole army. The Anubis jackal-headed Ushabti was the one that sold me on the whole army back when it was released during 6th edition.

The details show the decoration, including the hieroglyphics on the ribbons.

Continuing with the American Armored Rifle Platoon for a client’s army from Flames of War, I feature the M3 half-tracks. Simple olive drab color scheme; a lot easier than German equivalents, certainly.

My most recent work has been US Armored Infantry for a client. He wanted the standard uniforms that would allow him to use them in any theatre (Early, Mid, and Late War).

Here is Retribution of Scyrah’s Dawnguard Destor Thane, a cavalry solo for a client’s Warmachine army. More of this cool ‘club kid’ black, blue, white, and pink color scheme.

I’ve evolved my decoration methods over the course of the army, and I might return to previous painted units to spruce them up, especially with the glowing gem effects.

This is Lord Arcanist Ossyan, the first caster I’ve done for my client’s Retribution of Scyrah army for Warmachine.

The model is totally covered in gems, and on first pass the black armor and pink gems looked a bit odd. The contrast was too great, and made the armor look like it had a rash…

So I aimed for a glow from the gems, following the edges of the grooves and edges of the armor. This turned out better, and gives the dark model more dynamism. More casters to come.
