Primaris: Witchfire

The Primaris reinforcements continue to arrive for the Crimson Fists Space Marines.

The Primaris Librarian looms ominously, his cloak billowing around his towering form. While his armor is blue, it is a lighter blue than the Crimson Fists’ Kantor Blue; see previous Librarians. I decided to keep his color scheme dark, since I figured a bright robe would overshadow him. The black outer robe gives him a sinister air (appropriate for a user of the warp) while his inner robe is a simple brown, which is a nice neutral color against the blue armor. The purity seals break up the great fields of black and blue.

The rest of the Marines are some more Primaris to fill in the army’s Intercessor Squads.

The Sergeant wears his red helmet on his hip, drawing an absurdly big knife as he directs his men. The knife and left arm are from the Reivers set, but works here to give him a nice movement.

The Marines with grenade launchers have a good pose, looking like they’re thumping some rounds down range. The posability of the Primaris kit gives plenty of life to the models, an improvement over the simpler designs of the boxed game set.

Primaris!

The Crimson Fists Space Marine force continues, probably for some time…

Adding to the normal Space Marines, the new Primaris Marines arrive in force. I’ve shown a single member before, but I’ve finished a full 5-man Intercessor Squad (from the Dark Imperium box). The first squad has the usual bolt rifles, and the Sergeant (in the Codex red helmet) strides confidently forward.

The second pic is the other Primaris Sergeant (yet another pointing Marine!). He wears his red helmet on his belt, and seems to have a collar and headgear for interfacing. The other Marine is a standard Primaris Marine, with a head-swap from the Sternguard box. The Primaris body proportions are more realistic, thus the smaller Marine head fits fine.

The fancy guy in the third pic is a Lieutenant. It’s fun to have some of the old ranks of Marines back from Rogue Trader, even if he’s a Primaris. I wanted him to be a character in his own right, thus he got lots of extra decoration and unique heraldry. He wears a checkerboard pattern on his right shoulder, with a stylized iron halo design. The Lieu’s helmet is blue, with a white stripe down the middle, itself run through by a red stripe on the crest. He has a nice action-y pose, legs wide as he fires off his bolt pistol, sword brandished.

Last up are a pair of Sternguard Marines, both armed with heavy flamers. They carry standard gear, with some decoration (purity seals and Terminator honors). They share much of the same bits- the flamers and backpack, while one wears Mk III and the other Mk VI.

Crimson Fists: Storm of Fire

It seems I’m repopulating the entire 1st Company of the Crimson Fists Chapter by myself, or at least it feels that way. I’ve finished another squad’s worth of Sternguard Veterans for the army. These Marines are mostly needed to allow for weapon swaps as the army requires (special weapons, combi-weapons, etc.).

The Sternguard are a mix of the the plastic kit, the new Mk 3 kit, Forgeworld, and older Finecast sculpts. The Marine with combi-grav and scanner has the torso of the Captain from the 6th edition box, for example.

The first pic are a pair of Sergeants, one a Vet Sergeant for a Tactical Squad, while the other is a Devastator Sergeant. The Tactical uses a Forgeworld torso and head with bits from the Sternguard kit. The Devastator has a reinforced Mk 3 helmet and torso also from Forgeworld.

Last, but not least, is the first Primaris Marine I’ve finished. He’s a nice addition to the army, a member of the Inceptor Squad from the 8th ed box. His armor is pretty nice, with some great sleek detail to make him look more high tech than his ‘normal’ Marine brethren. I love his huge bolt rifle, which suits his stature (he’s a head taller than a Marine). Despite his size, his armor still follows the scheme of the rest of the Chapter- blue armor, red left fist. I painted in the Tactical symbol on the right shoulder and did a freehand of the Fist symbol on his left (rather than the sculpted shoulders of most of the other Marines). The rest will follow shortly.
